NSU Home  The Qualitative Report
An online journal dedicated to qualitative research since 1990

    By Word of Mouth

Starting with Volume 3, we added a new feature to The Qualitative Report called "By Word of Mouth." This section of the journal includes shorter pieces in which the author or authors present a helpful resource they have experienced and they would like to recommend it to others. These resources can be papers, books, software packages, web sites, online discussions groups, professional groups and organizations, or conferences.

By Word of Mouth pieces are combinations of review and editorial. Authors describe the important features of the resource and share how they found the material, people, or experience useful. Authors also share some of their own context with the readers and the situations under which they first encountered the resource.

The goal of this section is to provide practitioners and teachers of qualitative research with a selection of useful resources accompanied by personal reflections. The juxtaposition of the two helps readers to learn how others have used these resources to further their education and development as a qualitative researcher
