A Call for New Managing Editors

The Qualitative Report (TQR, ISSN 1052-0147) is a peer-reviewed, on-line journal devoted to writing and discussion of and about qualitative, critical, action, and collaborative inquiry and research. TQR serves as a forum and sounding board for researchers, scholars, practitioners, and other reflective-minded individuals who are passionate about ideas, methods, and analyses permeating qualitative, action, collaborative, and critical study. To help us continue to meet our mission we are looking to add new Managing Editors to serve initial three-year terms with renewal options.

Managing Editors serve as members of the TQR leadership team and Editorial Board. They work closely with the editors and reviewers to support and nurture to authors who submit papers to the journal. Instead of making our mark by citing how many papers we reject, we want to be known for helping authors become better writers and researchers. To this end, our Managing Editors work as part of an editorial community which unconditionally accepts all authors who submit their papers to the journal. In turn, we ask these authors to participate whole-heartedly in the editorial process of writing and re-writing. In this approach, reviewers and editors become mentors to the authors and as a team we work collaboratively to produce the best papers and journal possible.

As a TQR Managing Editor you will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

  1. Review 1 to 2 new papers per month as part of the TQR manuscript development process.

  2. Work with authors revising manuscripts.

  3. Produce supportive and useful reviews.

  4. Participate in internal quality improvement activities (e.g., develop surveys, forms and procedures; provide feedback to improve editorial policies and processes).

  5. Communicate with editors in a timely and professional manner.

  8. In what other languages do you feel capable of reading and reviewing papers?

  9. What is your level of expertise in working with Microsoft Word's document reviewing features such as Tracking Changes, Inserting Comments, and Text Highlighting?
