Are you seeking a career in ultrasound?
The Bachelor of Health Science in Vascular Sonography is an undergraduate degree program to prepare graduates for work in the field of vascular technology. This program is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).
Vascular technologists use ultrasound and other diagnostic technology to detect and assess the condition of arteries and veins in the body. They work with vascular surgeons, radiologists or cardiologists, as an essential member of the health care team.
The BHSc in Vascular Sonography requires 30 semester hours of course work in general education studies prior to admission to the program. In the first year, students will focus on anatomy and physiology, ultrasound physics, and vascular pathology and testing. The program incorporates lectures, on-line courses, hands-on ultrasound laboratory experiences, and integrated clinical experience to immerse the student in the medical environment. In the second year, the student will complete nearly 1,800-hours of clinical training in vascular laboratories to master the skills and concepts learned during the previous year. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registry examination.
