Residential Life

Programming

The Office of Residential Life and Housing team is dedicated to enhancing the total educational experience of our students by providing and facilitating an enjoyable on-campus living experience. We achieve our goal of fostering community through many of the developmental programs and initiatives that we promote. Below you will find pictures and descriptions from some of our larger events. Past Events

Wall of Hate

Wall of Hate

The Wall of Hate exhibits the words of hatred that have been experienced by our students.

During the week, cement blocks are placed in strategic areas for the students to paint, which later are constructed by a masonry company into a wall.

The breaking of the wall represents the student’s desire to eradicate all “-isms".

Take Back the Night

Take Back the Night

During Take Back the Night, the members of the NSU Community gather to unite their efforts in recognizing and stopping acts of sexual assault and domestic violence.

The annual event attracted a diverse audience with students, faculty, staff and community supporters.

After the speak out, the crowd participated in a candlelight vigil, and then a march around the NSU campus to Take Back the Night.

Hunger Banquet

Hunger Banquet

The Hunger Banquet is a yearly event that allows members of the NSU community to experience the impact the hunger has on the world around us.

It is an interactive event, involving individuals from Broward County as well as representatives from neighboring charities.

Looking Ahead

Study Breakers occur at the end of the semester prior to final exams. These are opportunities for residents to take a break from studying and join members of the Residential Life & Housing Staff as well as others from the NSU community for food, games, and prizes. For the winter 2008 semester, the Study Breakers will take place, April 27th - 29th, 2008.

  • Sunday April 27th - Jamba Juice in the residence hall lobbies.
  • Monday April 28th - Crunch Brunch in the University Center.
  • Tuesday April 29th - Pizza Social in the residence hall lobbies.

Building Community

Our Resident Assistants (RA’s) and other staff members work hard to provide quality community development opportunities for our residents. RA’s foster a sense of belonging for our students through various social and educational events. They encourage student involvement and interaction with the larger NSU community.
