Recommendations:

During the curriculum, students must use computer skills such as word processing, spread sheets, and presentation software. It is recommended that students have course work or self-study to meet these needs. Also, evidence of ability to communicate verbally in a foreign language (Spanish is suggested) through course work, self study, or CLEP examination is recommended.

Additional Information:

Upon review of a student’s individual record, the Committee on Admissions may require additional course work and testing as a condition of acceptance. The Dean is empowered to evaluate the total qualifications of every student and to modify requirements in unusual circumstances.

The Alternative Admissions Model in Entry-level Physical Therapy Education (AAMPTE)

Applicants who do not meet all requirements but have demonstrated great potential may be admitted to the program as non-matriculated students under the AAMPTE model. The decision is based on review by the Physical Therapy Committee on Admissions (PTCOA) and the Physical Therapy Department Chair.

The AAMPTE permits applicants who otherwise would not be granted admission to compete for admission by taking the required summer courses between June and August. The courses are the standard required summer courses that all entry-level Physical Therapy students are required to take. Based on successful completion of all required summer courses and all prerequisite coursework, participants in the AAMPTE model will be admitted in the fall with matriculated student status. Successful completion is the passing grade required for each summer course and a C or better in prerequisite coursework.
