Jeremy Katzman has extensive health care, higher education, and research communications experience. He is the primary spokesperson and chief communications officer for NSU MD. In this role, he is the college’s primary spokesperson, oversees the development and implementation of its communications plan and serves as an advisor to the dean for strategic planning, communications, business development, operations and other special projects. He also chairs the university-wide Research Campaign which develops strategic communications campaigns to support investments in NSU’s research endeavor.
Prior to holding this position, Katzman was an associate director of public affairs for NSU. His duties included providing public relations and marketing support for the Health Professions Division, which consists of eight colleges (allopathic medicine, dental medicine, health care sciences, medical sciences, nursing, optometry, osteopathic medicine and pharmacy), along with NSU’s Division of Translational Research and Economic Development and biotech areas.
Katzman has 13 years of strategic integrated marketing and communications experience. Prior to joining NSU, he served as associate director of public relations and e-philanthropy for Miami Children's Hospital Foundation. His primary focus was to manage and enhance the foundation's brand and message by serving as the primary media contact, spokesperson and copywriter and also managing the organization's website and social media presence. He previously served as an account executive at O'Connell & Goldberg Public Relations, where he provided expertise to clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, non-profit, hospitality and sports. He also worked in the marketing department at MEDNAX (Pediatrix Medical Group).
Katzman is 2018 treasurer of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Sunshine District, which encompasses all of Florida and includes seven chapters from Jacksonville to Miami. He has twice served as a national delegate to the PRSA Leadership Assembly and was president of the PRSA Greater Fort Lauderdale chapter in 2015. He continues to serve on the chapter board and has served as a judge for the Bronze Anvil Awards. Katzman is a graduate of Leadership Broward Class 34 and served on the Core Planning Committee and Co-Chair of Government and Education Day for Classes 35 and 36. He was appointed in 2017 to serve on the Cooper City Education Advisory Board, which supports educational institutions through grants and other activities. He was a long-time volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and previously served as chair of its Young Adult Board, which provides a forum for young adults going through cancer to interact with survivors.
Katzman is accredited in public relations (APR) by the Universal Accreditation Board. He earned his M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University and holds a B.A. in public relations and a B.S. in political science from the University of Florida (UF). He is a member of the UF Hall of Fame and was on the Bateman Team for the UF College of Journalism and Communications.
