Bernadette Bruce, M.B.A. is Director of Advancement Communications at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She is responsible for providing strategic and creative council to help colleagues enhance brand awareness and grow philanthropic support for the university. She leads campaign communications, manages special projects, finds meaningful ways to engage students and stakeholders, and shares stories that increase affinity. Her work includes NSU’s first comprehensive campaign, Realizing Potential, which achieved its $250 million goal three years early. Her portfolio spans 23 years. Her work with entrepreneurs and clients includes branding, advertising, marketing, creative direction, investor relations, public relations, project management, social media, and special events.
Bruce is a member of Leadership Broward XXXIII and Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale (JLGFL). She successfully led the 2017-2018 campaign to create and install a permanent sculpture celebrating 80 years of voluntarism and community impact by JLGFL along the Riverwalk in downtown fort Lauderdale. She served on the executive committee for three non-profit boards in Memphis, Tennessee, including Leadership Memphis and Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis. Her work with Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul, Inc. aided the opening of the first permanent Smithsonian exhibition outside of New York or Washington D.C. She was named a Top 40 under 40 by Memphis Business Journal in 2003.
Bruce received certificates in Human Relations Management and Workforce Management and Development from Michigan State University. She also holds a M.B.A. in Leadership from NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from University of Memphis.
