Words of Wisdom— From the Class of 2009

¨ Show up on time, be as polite as you can to everyone all the time, be confident but NEVER cocky, and things will be fine!

¨ If you happen to be lucky enough to get a rotation where your meals are free, eat as much as you can as often as you can and always take some home for later.

¨ When you come home RELAX, don't dive in and study, pay as close attention as you can at "work".  Do NOTHING on the weekends, don't go party, don't stay up drinking all night, just relax from the work week.  Finally, BE CONFIDENT, you do know more than the medical students do, I promise!

¨ These books to be extremely helpful in preparing for my EOR exams. Some are just Books of questions. Others are study guides.

¨ OBGYN: Obstetrics and Gynecology by Charles Beckman, Frank Ling (Green book published by Lippincott and Williams)

¨ Surgery: Surgical Recall

¨ Emergency Medicine: Pre test Emergency Medicine by Adam Rosh

¨ Family/Internal Medicine: Dr. Diamond's book

¨ Take one day a week to not study and keep your sanity...except in the month of October,  study like you have never studied before.

¨ The days are long but the months go by really fast. Embrace your time in PA school because it will be over before you know it.

¨ NSU has tons of resources between the staff and the library, so use them! You pay for it!

¨ Take advantage of your time in rotations. It is so easy to count down and look to the end but never again will you have time is so many different specialities. Go in early and stay late if you can, volunteer to go in on your days off....those were the times that I learned the most during my rotations and one time in particular defined what I plan to do after graduation.

¨ As far as deciding on a specialty, go in to each day of your rotation like it is your job and imagine yourself waking up everyday to do that. There will be at least one rotation that "just fits"!
