We, the students of the Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant Program in Fort Lauderdale, recognize that through a formal organization we can benefit our program, our community, our profession, and ourselves.

It is for this reason that we establish the Nova Southeastern University- Fort Lauderdale Physician Assistant Student Society.  In all aspects of its function, this society shall pursue professionalism, integrity, equality, dignity, and competence for the Physician Assistant as a health care professional.

Physician Assistant Program—Fort Lauderdale

Here are some Words of Wisdom from the Class of 2009!

On November 7, 2009 the PA students of Nova Southeastern University-Fort Lauderdale campus presented the Carelink International Clinic in Jupiter, FL (Palm Beach County) with a diagnostic set including an otoscope and ophthalmoscope.  Carelink International is a clinic that serves the uninsured and medically underserved population of Palm Beach County.  The clinic operates by relying on over 100 volunteer doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals.  Twice a month a group of students from the PA class volunteers by taking the patients’ vital signs and histories.  This amounts to a commitment of over 400 total service hours annually.  The students really enjoy this time to work on their patient interviewing skills and also learn by observing the physicians and PA’s as they examine the patients.  The students are also a huge benefit to the clinic as they cut down on the time that it takes to get patients through by streamlining the process.  The class had been looking for a way to honor the Clinic as they moved to their new permanent location.  As a class, they decided the best way to do so would be to donate medical equipment that could improve the care of the patients that the clinic serves.  The diagnostic set was donated by Steven Bakalar, a representative of Welch-Allyn.

The PA class greatly appreciates everyone at Welch-Allyn for their generosity.
