Programs for the education of Physician Assistants are accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of Physician Assistants, Inc. (ARC-PA). Information regarding the ARC-PA and the accreditation process is available at the ARC-PA's web site at www.arc-pa.org.
The Orlando Physician Assistant Program has been awarded Provisional Accreditation and matriculated
the inaugural class of 50 students in June of 2007. Provisional accreditation
is the only mechanism for new PA Programs to become accredited by the
ARC-PA. All new PA Programs must seek provisional accreditation prior
to admitting the first class of students. Accreditation is important,
as only graduates of accredited programs qualify to sit for the Physician
Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE), which is required
for licensure.
A follow-up provisional accreditation visit is scheduled with the ARC-PA. Follow-up visits must occur no sooner than four months after students have entered the clinical phase of the program and no later than six months after graduation of the first class. All students who matriculate during the provisional accreditation period are permitted to sit for the PANCE examination.
