Don Taft University Center

It’s no coincidence that the Don Taft University Center,  which includes our new student recreation complex, is just steps away from the library. It serves as both a symbolic and a literal balance between work and play at Nova Southeastern University.

The Don Taft University Center houses a highly  flexible, 4,500-seat arena designed to host everything from our NCAA Division II NSU Sharks athletics to concerts, guest lectures, and formal banquets. There  are: two basketball courts; a volleyball court; a two-story rock climbing wall;  and three multipurpose studios for group exercise, dance classes, martial arts, yoga, Pilates, and just about anything else you can imagine. There’s a Performing  and Visual Arts Wing with an intimate Black Box Theater, dressing rooms, costume and scenery shops, and a gallery. The Don Taft University Center also houses an innovative, second performance theater with adjustable seating areas. There are men’s and  ladies’ saunas, a spectacular, outdoor pool area where you can worship the Florida sun, and the Flight Deck, our popular student lounge where you can celebrate your down time. You’ll also find one of the best workout facilities in the state, with state-of-the-art strength- and cardio-training equipment and personal trainers.

Despite the many flat-panel TVs and  floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the campus, there is one view that’s even more impressive: that of the three-story-tall, undersea mural hand painted by marine artist Guy Harvey. This work spans the length of a football field and resides along the center’s central atrium.
