PMO

The PMO is responsible for coordinating the project management functions throughout the Nova Southeastern University community.

Project Manager

A project manager is a facilitator that has the responsibility of the planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of any project. The person responsible for working with the project sponsor, the project team, and the stakeholders involved in a project to meet project goals. The project manager is the one who is responsible for ensuring that decisions are made in such a way that risk is controlled and uncertainty minimized.

Project Sponsor

The person who provides the direction and funding for a project. This person will be responsible to provide the following information:

Stakeholder

People involved in or affected by project activities (Staff, faculty, students, vendors, consultants, etc...)

PMO Steering Committee

The PMO Steering Committee is composed of senior executives in the university that the PMO serves, such as the Colleges, Finance, Marketing, and Facilities. The committee takes responsibility for the feasibility, business case, and achievement of university wide IT projects. The Steering Committee provides a leadership influence so organizational concepts and directions are established to support the long-term vision and strategic goals of

The Steering Committee will meet monthly to review project status, provide oversight of the project deliverables, ensuring business objectives are being addressed, and the projects remain on plan. In practice these responsibilities are carried out by performing the following functions: monitoring and review of projects at regular Steering Committee meetings, providing guidance to projects when required, and controlling project scope as emergent issues force changes to be considered, ensuring that scope aligns with the previously agreed business requirements of the project sponsor and key stakeholder groups.
