1. Is a dissertation considered a sponsored project?
No. A dissertation would not be considered sponsored project and, therefore, would not be processed through the Office of Grants and Contracts.
2. Can students apply for grants for tuition through the OGC?
No. A student should apply for grants for tuition through the Student Financial Aid office.
3. Can student organizations apply for external funding?
Yes. A student organization may apply for external funding for sponsored projects. However, the organization is required to have a full-time faculty member serve as the Principal Investigator or Project Director on the proposed project. The faculty member may be the organization's advisor.
4. How do I know if my proposal needs IRB review and approval?
All projects that propose to conduct research involving human subjects are subject to IRB review and approval.
5. Should I submit my proposal without going through the OGC?
All proposals for sponsored projects should be processed through the Office of Grants and Contracts.
