Module 1: Introduction to Sponsored Funding

The purpose of this module is to provide a basic introduction for faculty, researchers, administrators and graduate students who have little or no experience with externally funded research. Topics covered in this module include the definition of sponsored projects, types of sponsored awards, and using human subjects. Upon completion of this module, users will know the:

• Types of activities funded by funding agencies
• Difference between grants and contracts
• Importance of conducting research involving the use of human subjects
