Community of Science
Community of Science (COS) is a leading provider of information resources to researchers, scholars and other professionals around the globe. COS brings together the world's most prominent scientists, researchers and scholars at more than 1,600 universities, corporations and government agencies worldwide. COS provides services that enable these professionals to find the funding, people and information that are important to their work. NSU’s current subscription includes the following services:
- COS Funding Opportunities is the world’s largest source of information about available funding for all types of projects in all disciplines.
You may access this service from any campus computer, with no username and password required, at http://fundingopps.cos.com. - COS Expertise is a database of over 500,000 researcher profiles that contain information about all aspects of a researcher’s academic career: qualifications, languages, positions held, patents, publications, honors and awards, and much more.
To search COS Expertise for former colleagues, collaborators, or others, simply go to http://expertise.cos.com from any campus computer.
To create your own profile in COS Expertise, use the easy online registration forms. When you register, be sure to select Nova Southeastern University from the list of institutions. - COS Workbench is a personal workspace where you can manage your COS services: update your Expertise profile, manage your Funding Alert account (see below for more details about Funding Alert), and search COS Expertise and COS Funding Opportunities from off campus.
When you create your profile, you will be asked to assign yourself a username and password. You may log in to your COS Workbench with this username at any time. - COS Funding Alert allows you to set up and save funding searches; you then receive weekly notifications of new funding information that matches your searches. Initially, COS will create a search for you, based on the information you have submitted in your Expertise profile. At any time, you may log in to your COS Workbench to access archived results, or to modify your searches.
