Grants.gov Alerts and Tips

Alerts

  • Organizational Registration in Grants.Gov
NSU is already registered in the federal Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database.  CCR Registrationis a one-time process, and no further action is required on the part of individual PI’s and PD’s. Likewise, organizational registration has been completed for NSF Fastlane.
  • Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR)
Barbara Sterry, Executive Director of the Office of Grants and Contracts, is designated as AOR Representative in Grants.gov, and is the primary NSF FastLane Contact/Sponsored Project Office, for submitting proposals on behalf of individual NSU PI’s/PD’s.Individual PI’s and PD’s do not have the authority to submit proposals electronically. Rather, the Office of Grants and Contracts staff work in partnership with PI’s/PD’s to ensure that all necessary forms, information, and attachments are properly completed and submitted in the electronic application.
  • Macintosh Users
Grants.gov was not designed with Mac users in mind. Until there is a version of PureEdge Viewer that is cross-platform compatible,grants.gov is suggesting that Mac users either install Virtual PC, or use Citrix. Due to various difficulties, our recommendation is that the administrator assemble the application package on a Windows PC.
  • Firefox Users
Please be aware that we have seen some problems using grants.gov with the Firefox web browser. Under certain circumstances, PureEdge Viewer fails to open an attachment properly. Whenever you are working with PureEdge, we recommend keeping a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer open; that seems to enable PureEdge to open attachments properly.
