Shutter Shark 2008

The First NSU Oceanographic Center Student Amateur Photography Contest

September 19, 2008 marked the announcement of the winners of the first student amateur photography contest at the NSU Oceanographic Center, Shutter Shark 2008. Thirty-two students submitted 237 photographs to the following five categories:

  • Best Macro
  • Best Wide Angle
  • Best Vertebrate
  • Best Invertebrate
  • Best Topside

The judging panel included faculty and staff from the Oceanographic Center as well as guest judges from the underwater photographic community in South Florida. The judges awarded prizes to the top three photographs in each category as well as declaring one image "Best Overall". The winners will be published in an upcoming edition of Currents and Dive Chronicles Magazine.
