- Research Work Description:
-
I am currently working on a restoration project focusing on the threatened species, Acropora cervicornis (staghorn coral), on
regional scale. Cooperatively working with the University of Miami, Mote Marine Laboratory and The Nature Conservancy we have
established four unique Acropora nurseries across the Florida reef tract. The goals of this project are multiple, but are
mainly focusing on finding the proper ecosystem for successful transplantation of A.cervicornis fragments and to also
determine if genetic differences play a role in growth and survivorship of transplanted fragments.
Other projects that I assist with include: Benthic surveys in Southeast Florida and Veracruz Mexico, Sponge and Gorgonian
transplantation and reef monitoring.
