- Research Work Description:
-
The focus of my research is the
transplantation of juvenile Siderastrea siderea colonies from a
nearshore site impacted by coastal construction activites for reef
enhancement at an offshore ship grounding site. My objectives are to
compare growth, survival, zooxanthellae densities, and reproductive
capabilites of the transplanted colonies with that of control colonies
at the nearshore site. Due to initial observations of fish predation
on the transplanted colonies, a side study is being conducted on fish
predation pressure on relocated stony corals.
