The Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center offers Masters and Ph.D. graduate programs and is home to the National Coral Reef Institute and the Guy Harvey Research Institute. The Center has 15 full-time faculty members, 6 research scientists, and 11 adjunct professors specializing in a variety of marine science research and teaching disciplines. Areas of interest include ecology, geology, physiology, conservation biology, microbiology, physical oceanography, marine policy, and coastal zone management.

We have a large number of graduate student research assistants. These positions are grant funded and the work is in areas related to their field of study. Examples include molecular ecology and conservation genetics of sharks and coral reef biota, functional studies of artificial reefs, implementing coral stress indices, study of coral skeleton density and growth, coral reef mapping, ballast water research, coral transplantation, reef monitoring, etc.

There is also a support staff who handle administrative and other duties.
