All prospective students submit their applications electronically. The Oceanographic Center admissions committee qualitatively and quantitatively evaluates applicants and makes selections based on performance, personal qualifications, and evidence of potential for success. Graduate admission decisions are made on an individually on a continuous basis.

Undergraduate applications must be submitted no later than two weeks before the start of term.

Welcome to your online guide to applying to Nova Southeastern University. Follow the steps below:

You can submit your application (and check on its progress) using an online program called WebSTAR (http://webstar.nova.edu). The first step is to create your account in WebSTAR. The second step is to fill in and complete the online application form. The third step is to email the Institute of Marine? and Coastal Studies at the email addresses provided below to let us know that you have submitted your application, and for what program, so that we can make sure it goes through the system smoothly.

Step 1: Create an Account in WebSTAR

You will be asked to create a Login ID and a PIN number. Please keep a record of these for your future use. The Login ID can be alphabetical, numeric or a blend of letters and numbers. There is no set limitation on the? length of your Login ID. Choose something you will be able to remember, but that cannot easily be guessed by others. The PIN has to be eight digits (numbers).

If you already have an account in WebSTAR, login and submit your application for admission.

Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form

Once you begin to complete your Admissions Application, you will be asked to choose from two options.

For all Oceanographic Center based courses, please choose "Graduate/Professional Programs". You will be taken to a new page and asked to select a college. Please click on "Oceanographic Center".

You will then be taken to another page with a drop-down menu and asked to choose an application type.

  • If you are applying for either Graduate Certificate, choose it.
  • If you are applying for the MS/MA degrees, choose Oceanography (MS/MA).
  • If you are applying for the PhD degree, choose Oceanography (PhD).

You will choose your major course of study later in the application.

The rest of the application process should be straightforward - please note that you can stop and continue your application at a later date if you wish.
