Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education

Program Goal

The PhD in Nursing education program builds on masters in nursing education and prepares graduates for roles as leaders, researchers and educators within the discipline of nursing education.

Program Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the PhD in Nursing Education program will be able to:

  1. Conduct research that generates nursing and nursing education knowledge though testing and refining of theory.

  2. Integrate health care and educational policy advocacy and leadership into the role of a nurse educator.

  3. Assume the role of nurse educator with the ability to design learning opportunities in educational settings using instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse populations.

  4. Collaborate with other disciplines in the developing of an integrated view of knowledge in order to educate competent health care providers responsive to the needs and concerns of society.
