Infant/Toddler Child Care

MSI offers a training-of-trainers program designed to enhance the quality of infant and toddler care. We utilize our publication, "Making Connections- A Field Guide to Infant & Toddler Child Care". The field guide covers 10 topics of concern to infant and toddler care providers:

  • Enhancing infant and toddler care
  • Pursuing quality
  • Creating a welcoming environment
  • Making ‘Prime Times’ of Caregiving Routines
  • Respecting Individual Differences
  • Knowing Infants and Toddlers
  • Responsive Caregiving
  • Language and Listening
  • Exploring and Discovering
  • Connecting with Parents
This training offers basic information about the developmental needs of infants and toddlers in group care, and a wealth of activities that directors and consultants can use for staff training. Activities include an Action Agenda designed to provide directors and consultants with effective strategies for program improvement and for mentoring and supervision of staff.

The training provides participants with creative ideas for using three well-known training materials: Videos from the Program for Infant/Toddler Caregivers (WestEd), Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale-R (Teachers College Press), and Prime Times (Redleaf).
