The Jim & Jan Moran Community Outreach Initiative
Conceived in response to a challenge from Jim and Jan Moran, the Moran Community Outreach Initiative expands the work of the Mailman Segal Institute by teaching best practices to underserved and at-risk communities throughout Broward County. A six-year initiative, the program will increase the institute's reach by thousands of children and families, ensuring that significantly more children in Broward County will be prepared to succeed in school. Jim and Jan Moran are leading advocates for healthy families and are deeply committed to helping children learn and grow and succeed to their fullest potential. Parenting Support
With the goal of incorporating the “whole family” approach to child care, early child development and parenting, the Mailman Segal Institute's Moran Community Outreach Initiative has significantly increased the number of parenting and parent/child classes offered at off-site locations. These classes promote healthy parent-child relationships by helping parents learn the practical skills to improve communication, encourage cooperation, and foster an early love of learning.
