Autism Leadership Academy

The Autism Leadership Academy will be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on February 26th - March 2nd 2007 at the state-of-the-art training and demonstration facility, the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village.

The Mailman Segal Institute’s Autism Consortium is offering a one-week training academy on developing leadership in the area of autism in education. Training will focus on identifying leadership styles, models for supporting educators, and the impact of special education law on the education of individuals with autism.

Participants include special education directors, autism consultants, autism coordinators or coaches, and any individual who is expected to motivate, train, and lead staff within programs serving students with autism.

Areas of training will include:

  • Evaluating your leadership style
  • How to address resistant teachers and staff
  • What special education laws impact on practice
  • Facilitating communication and team building
  • Systematic planning for your district
  • Essential Elements of Autism Programming
  • Providing Professional Development
