Academic Programs in Autism
Graduate level academic programs, offered in conjunction with
the Fischler School of Education and Human Services of NSU,
are available to train professional in autism spectrum disorders.
These programs are available at the Masters, Educational Specialist,
and Doctoral levels. All courses are offered in an online format
for distance learning across the country. On-site teaching can
be provided based on interest in a particular area.
A four-course
series may be taken as a stand-alone or as part of a Master’s
or Educational Specialist degree. It is anticipated that these
courses will meet the criteria for the Florida Autism Endorsement
for educator certification. Courses available include:
- EP 750 Understanding the Nature of Students with Autism
Spectrum Disorders
- EP 755 Assessment of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- EP 760 Interventions for Students with Autism Spectrum
Disorders
- EP 765 The Behavior-Communication Connection for Students
with Autism Spectrum Disorders

A doctoral specialization is available through the Ed.D. program
in Child and Youth Studies program which includes 18 credits.
Twelve of these credits must include the following four courses.
Two additional electives completes the specialization.
