Returning & Renewing Materials

(NSU distance program patrons only)

Photocopies of articles and microfiche documents are yours to keep, but books and other material must be returned to the Library by the due date. Books will be sent with a paper band around the cover indicating the due date. Generally, books you receive from the NSU library can be renewed online through NovaCat. You cannot renew a book after its due date. You can renew books through your circulation record in NovaCat.

If you would like to renew a book that you received from another lending library, you should email your renewal request to library@nova.edu. Include your Library Order Reference Number(s) for the item(s) you would like to renew. Like NSU books, these items cannot be renewed after their due date.

Return all books to the lending library, with the paper band intact, in time to avoid a fine. There is an overdue fine of 25 cents per day for each book returned late. Books returned late to lending libraries seriously jeopardize NSU's ability to request materials from the lending library in the future.

A return label and instructions on how to return materials will be included with loaned books; they may vary depending on where the books came from. Students can reuse the book bag by placing the return mailing label over the old address label. Mail the books back to NSU using first class mail. Students are responsible for the cost of returning books. When returning a dissertation, ship next day delivery via United Parcel Service. In some cases, books may be sent to you directly from another library with which NSU has a lending agreement. In that case, please return the item directly to that library following the instructions sent with the book.
