OPAC Icons at NSU Libraries

The icons below were originally developed for the redesign of the NSU Libraries WebOPAC. Some icons are original designs, and others are enhanced versions of icons provided by Innovative Interfaces with the 2005 LE OPAC example set.

At least half of the material types below were created for this redesign to give a better representation of our collections. This entailed large batch record updates, made by our bibliographic specialist and other members of our Technical Services department, so that the records in our system would match the icons associated with them in our WWWOPTIONS.

Can other libraries use these icons?
Sure! If you're a member of the IUG listserv and would like to use any of these icons, just email me using the link below to ask permission. Please acknowledge our work whenever possible, as done by Ruth Connell in the Valparaiso University Libraries website.
I'll be glad to help you modify my icons to better fit your collections, or I can just send you the master .png file with all icons in it so you can take a stab at it yourself.
6/26/07: I tried saving the png file as psd and it seems to work ok for one of the folks who didn't have Macromedia Fireworks available. Let me know which format you prefer if you decide to request the icons master file for use in your catalog.
