As the world and the nation celebrates the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth, join us in learning about Lincoln's legacy and how Lincoln still influences our lives today.

Abraham Lincoln: A Man Of His Time, A Man For All Time
Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, A Man for All Times is a national traveling exhibition developed by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Funding for the traveling exhibition has been made possible through a major grant from the national Endowment for the Humanities.
This exhibit will be in the Library Gallery from October 2 - October 25, 2009.

Beginning June 1, sign up for each discussion using the links below or in person in Public Library Services, at the Alvin Sherman Library. You will receive the first free booklet from the Lincoln in America Memory Project. Return in subsequent weeks to receive the next booklet in the series, for a total of five booklets.

History Study Center
This database has over 40,000 documents including journal articles related to world and American History. History Study Center contains other material as well including: maps, encyclopedias, some video clips and several thousands images as well. The database possesses a wide range of historical material including transcripts of famous speeches and various historical texts.
American Civil War: Letters and Diaries
Contains detailed, firsthand descriptions of historical characters and events, glimpses of daily life in the army, anecdotes about key events and personages, accounts of sufferings at home, a battles database, and more in a 100,000-page collection. The materials are indexed with dozens of search fields, and there are 4,000 pages of previously unpublished manuscript images.
Making of Modern Law: Trials, 1600 - 1926
Contains over 10,000 items (about 2,000,000 pages), including unofficially published accounts of trials; official trial documents, briefs and arguments reprinted or bound as separate publications; and official, separately published records of legislative proceedings, administrative proceedings, and arbitrations. The literature include sensational accounts of murder, adultery, divorce, and duels along with important cases of constitutional law, commercial law, impeachment, treason, and other topics.
