From this page you can download compatible versions of Internet browsers, helper applications, and plug-ins required to take advantage of all the features of the library's electronic resources. For assistance with these applications, please contact the NSU Help Desk.

Internet browsers | Plug-ins and helper applications

Internet Browsers To ensure access and functionality for all of the library's online databases, please use one of the following Internet browsers. After installing, see Internet browser settings.
	Microsoft Internet Explorer Please note: MS Internet Explorer versions 4 and 5.5 are not compatible with all of the library's electronic resources. Version 6 is recommended. Download Internet Explorer. Questions? See Microsoft Internet Explorer Support.
	Netscape Navigator Please note: Netscape Navigator versions 4 and 6 are not compatible with all the library's electronic resources. Versions 7 or 8 are recommended. Download Netscape Navigator. Questions? See Netscape Navigator Support.
	Note: Many versions of the cobranded Internet browsers provided by Internet service providers, such as AOL, MSN and CompuServe, are NOT compatible with the library's electronic resources. You may continue to use AOL, MSN or CompuServe for access, but once you have connected to the Internet, you should minimize the AOL, MSN or CompuServe window and open a regular (non-cobranded) version of Netscape Navigator or MS Internet Explorer.
Plug-ins and Helper Applications Some files and documents within the electronic resources and online databases require the use of additional plug-ins and helper applications. These programs allow you to read full text images, view graphics and videos, hear audio files, etc. Below are some of the most frequently required programs which can be downloaded free of charge.
	Adobe Reader Adobe Reader is required to view .pdf documents. PDF (Portable Document Format) is a universal file format that preserves the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics of a source document file, allowing you to view it in its original format. 	Macromedia Flash Player Allows you to playback Flash files, online multimedia files for animated and interactive web content. Download Flash Player Questions? See Macromedia Flash Player Support
	Macromedia Shockwave Player Allows you to playback Shockwave files, online multimedia files for animated and interactive web content. Download Shockwave Player Questions? See Macromedia Shockwave Player Support
