Style Guides

Any major citation style system such as APA, MLA, or Chicago is generally standard for papers and publications in mathematics and mathematics education. See Style Guides for further information.

Mathematics journals generally use the TeX text formatting system (or a variation such as the American Mathematics Society's AMS-Tex or LaTeX).  TeX is specially designed to format papers to be displayed by various software packages and is especially good at displaying mathematical formulas.

The American Mathematics Society has a page of links for public domain Tex software for various types of computers.
