Genealogy Collection: Overview

The Alvin Sherman Library is pleased to announce the opening of its new Genealogy Collection. Based on the generous donation of the private library of the Genealogical Society of Broward County, the Genealogy Collection offers a wonderful new avenue of research for our patrons. Comprised of an array of print materials, periodical literature and archival materials totaling upwards of 3,000 titles, this collection will be of great benefit for both entry-level and advanced genealogists, as well as researchers within the social sciences.

The Genealogy Collection is located in the Genealogy Room on the second floor Reference area of the Alvin Sherman Library. The vast majority of its materials are non-circulating. However, some introductory and general research books are available for check-out. In addition, the compiled genealogies and pedigrees produced by individual members of the Genealogical Society of Broward County are housed in the University Archives and are accessible by appointment only.
