New Authentication System

We have changed how you access ebooks, ejournals, and databases. These changes make your access faster and more secure. Below are descriptions of these changes.

1. Login screen

Your log-in credentials may change from what you're used to...

Current NSU students, staff, and faculty

!! NEW !! Type in your SharkLink ID and password on the LEFT side of the screen (more info...) You will no longer use your N number to log in to library services. Your SharkLinkID is the same as your email and WebCT logins.

All other registered users

Registered BROWARD patrons with a Sherman Library card
Type in your library card number on the RIGHT side of the screen (begins with "28132") - Use your Sherman Library cardu

Registered Alumni
Type in your library card number on the RIGHT side of the screen - Use your NSU ID

HPD Clinical Adjunct Faculty
Type in your library card number on the RIGHT side of the screen - Use your NSU ID

University School Upper School students
Type in your library card number on the RIGHT side of the screen - Use your NSU ID

2. Access icons

Icons indicate whether you can access a particular database, ejournal, or ebook from your current location. The tall building icon building is used to indicate access from any NSU facility. The house icon house is used to indicate off-campus access (like from your home or office).

3. Journal Finder

Three changes are in Journal Finder.

First, there is a single version for everyone. No more "Am I Broward or NSU?"

Second, access icons discussed above indicate access to individual resources.

Third, registered alumni can use Journal Finder!

4. Databases

The new access icons will appear in database lists.

Our long-term goal is to have a single database list for all users. For a while, though, we'll still have separate lists for NSU, alumni, Broward, and walk-in users.

5. NovaCat - ebooks and FindIt!

Access icons are in ebook NovaCat records and FindIt! screens.

Ebook records are tagged to show access, as shown:

6. FindIt!

FindIt! links to the single Journal Finder. Icons illustrate access rights.

7. Servers

You can safely approve these web addresses if you get a warning from a firewall or security software:

  • auth.library.nova.edu
  • ezproxylocal.library.nova.edu
