Finding Tests and Measurements

Using published instruments is a reliable method for measuring constructs under investigation. Your resources should provide logical reasons for you to select your instruments instead of other tools. These resources can serve to convince the reader that the procedures and measures that you have chosen are the most logical choices available.

Activity 6

Searching for Tests and Measurements

  1. Access the Alvin Sherman Library at www.nova.edu/library/main/ and click on the the Electronic Resources link at the top of the page.
  2. Click on Databases.
  3. Select NSU Patrons, input your last name and University ID number (this is the N #), and click on the Submit button.
  4. Under Browse by Type of Material select Tests & Measurements.
  5. Select one of the following databases, Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI) or Mental Measurements Yearbook. If necessary use some of the web resources listed in the tips on locating tests and measurements above.
  6. Try searching for a test or measurement instrument relevant to your information needs.
  7. Enter the information below. You will find the requested information listed in the abstract.

Tips for Obtaining Tests and Measurements

For help on locating both published and unpublished tests and measurements, take a look at the Tests & Measurements Subject Guide

If the test or measurement is published, you may need to identify the publisher and obtain a complimentary copy or purchase a copy from the publisher. For places you can go to locate information about the publishers, try the following:

NOTE: In the CINAHL database, you can use the publication type to identify research instruments, and PsycInfo is also adding this option in new records being added to the database.
