STATION 5
Finding Full Text Articles using Journal Finder

As you have noticed in the previous databases (ERIC and PsycINFO), the citation and the abstract is available in most cases. Depending on your topic you may find a handful of full text articles in PsycArticles. To find full text of the article, you need to search NSU Libraries' Journal Finder tool.

For detailed information on how use this tool see the Journal Finder Tutorial
Although doing research has become much easier with easy access to full text materials online, please understand that NOT everything will be available in this manner.

Tips for Obtaining Full Text Articles

PsycArticles provides full text for 50 peer-reviewed APA journals. Other databases include full text articles as well. You can use the Journal Finder Title Search option to see if the journal you need is available in full text in one of the library's other 200 databases, for example, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Expanded Academic ASAP, etc.

If the journal is not full text in the library's databases, try the following:

  • On-Campus Students: If the article is not available full-text in any of the databases, try the following steps:
    • You may be able to retrieve your article from the shelves in the Periodical Collection. Search NovaCat, NSU's online library catalog, using the journal title to determine if the journal is available in paper or microform in the library. Journals in the library are arranged alphabetically by title.
    • If the journal is not in the library, you can order the article through our Interlibrary Loan department using the Local online request forms <http://www.nova.edu/library/serv/docdel/local.html>
  • For additional help searching for full-text journal articles, contact the Reference Desk at (800) 541-6682 ext. 24613 or locally in Broward County at (954) 262-4613. You can also Ask A Librarian by email.
