Finding ERIC Documents (EDs) in ERIC 

ERIC indexes published and unpublished sources on thousands of educational topics. In addition to journal articles, ERIC also includes citations and abstracts for a vareity of education documents not published in journals. These include government reports, conference papers, curriculi, standards and guidelines, and abstracts of books from 1966 to present. The results of an ERIC search may contain items on your topic from the

  • journal literature–abstracts of journal literature have EJ accession numbers
  • document literature–abstracts of document literature have ED accession numbers

Activity 2

Searching ERIC for EDs

  1. In ERIC (ProQuest), use one or all of your key search terms from Activity 1 to perform a search.
  2. On the right side, under the heading, Narrow Results By, click on either Confernce Papers & Proceedings or Reports.
  3. Select a record. These records are not journal articles so they will have ED accession numbers.
  4. Provide the following information:

HOW TO: Click on the FullText link on the ERIC Search Results page. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the document. If you are not able to find the ED document electronically in ERIC, please order the document through Document Delivery.
