ISM 5014: Information Technology Applications in Management Decisions
Library Research Module


Welcome to the ISM 5014 Library Research Module. It is designed to help you locate various types of company information for the Experiential Internet Exercise.

The four activities cover: 

In each activity, you will be asked to use a library resource to answer questions about the resource or the information you found using it. If you don't understand any of the terminology in this exercise, consult this Glossary of Library and Internet Terms

All of the activities in this module require you to access library databases. You can access library databases in several ways; use the one with which you feel most comfortable. If you have not used library databases before, use the following steps:

  • Go to the Alvin Sherman Library's home page (
  • From the library's home page, click on the tab that says "Articles."
  • From the "Articles" tab box, click on "Databases by Subject" to see a list of subject areas, or "All Databases" if you already know the name of the database you want to use.
  • Before you begin, please review the following carefully:

    • You cannot save your progress within an activity, so you need to complete each one before moving on to the next.

    • After submitting your answers for each activity, you will receive an email confirmation. (For this module, you will receive four emails in total.)

    • To receive credit for the module, be sure to post your assignment in Blackboard, per your professor's instructions.
