All programs will take place at the Alvin Sherman Library on the NSU main
campus unless othewise noted. Most programs are free and open to the public.

Opening Syposium and Reception
February 5, 1:00-6:30 p.m.
Distinguished academics will present papers and dramatic readings
on Northern Ireland and the peace process. Symposium speakers
include:
- James Doan, professor of humanities, NSU
- Joan Fitzpatrick Dean, professor of English and Irish literature,
University of Missouri-Kansas City
- Charlotte Headrick, professor of theatre, Oregon State University
- Trischa Goodnow, Oregon State University
- Mark Duncan, assistant professor of theatre, NSU
The reception will begin at 5:00 p.m. and feature Yvonne Murphy
of the Linen Hall Library, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Faculty Lecture
February 9 , 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Professor J.P. Linstroth of NSU's Graduate School of Humanities
and Social Sciences presents a lecture on the anthropological
considerations of the Linen Hall Library collection in relation
to the Northern Irish conflict.

Saturday Films and Discussions
February 12 - 26, Noon - 4:00 p.m.
- February 12: Bloody Sunday
Speaker: Don Mullan, actor and coproducer of Bloody Sunday,
author of Eyewitness to Bloody Sunday and The Dublin and Monaghan
Bombings.
- February 19: Hidden Agenda
Speaker: Judge Andrew L. Somers, Jr. (retired), president of
the Irish-American Unity Conference.
- February 26: In the Name of the Father
Speakers: Niall O'Dowd, publisher of Irish America and the Irish
Voice, and Andrew Wilson, adjunct professor of modern Irish,
European, and American history at Loyola University of Chicago.
Each film will be shown at noon with a discussion following at 2:00
p.m.

Guest Lecture
March 15, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Knight Auditorium of the Carl DeSantis Building, NSU main campus.
Mark Durkan, head of SDLP, the main constitutional nationalist
party in Northern Ireland, will deliver the key address at the
capstone of the Troubled Images poster exhibit. Durkans
talk, followed by a reception, will be delivered in the Knight
Auditorium of the Carl DeSantis Building. This address is being
hosted by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the Shepard
Broad Law Center, the South Florida Irish Studies Consortium,
the Celtic American Law Society (at the Shepard Broad Law Center),
and the Irish Peace Institute of the University of Limerick.
