International Day of Peace

Various locations in the Alvin Sherman Library and the Carl DeSantis Building and in the courtyard between them.

September 21, 2005 marks International Day of Peace – a day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate peace and non-violence around the globe.

The General Assembly of the UN in 2001 declared September 1 as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. All member nations, UN organizations, regional and non-governmental organizations, and individuals were encouraged to commemorate the day through education and public awareness.
