September 21, 2005 marks International Day of Peace – a day
set aside by the United Nations to celebrate peace and non-violence
around
the
globe.
The General Assembly of the UN in 2001 declared September 1 as a day
of global ceasefire and non-violence. All member nations, UN organizations,
regional and non-governmental organizations, and individuals were encouraged
to commemorate the day through education and public awareness.
As part of the International Day of Peace on Wednesday, NSU has
scheduled several activities that will be held throughout
the day from 12:00-8:00 p.m in the Courtyard between the Carl DeSantis
Building, and the Alvin Sherman Library, as well as inside both facilities.
The NSU community is invited to attend.
