Obtaining an I-20
- Gain FULL acceptance to a program of study at Nova Southeastern University (see eligibility criteria for your specific program). An I-20 will not be issued with a provisional acceptance.
- Submit an original financial statement from a banking institution to the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and submit a copy of the statement to your program admissions office. The bank statement should reflect sufficient funds to cover a full year of tuition, applicable fees and living expenses.
- If the financial statement is not in the student’s name (i.e. the bank account belongs to a relative, friend or other sponsor), then a letter of sponsorship is required. You may submit your own or you may print the NSU Sponsorship Form and return it to OISS.
- Applicants whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate English proficiency. The following standardized tests currently satisfy the university's English requirement for nonnative English speakers:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 213 on the computer-based test; 79-80 on the Internet based test.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6.0 on the test module.
- GMAT score of 450; GRE score of 1,000.
- Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) with a score of at least 480 in the verbal section, or the American College Test (ACT) with a score of at least 20 on the verbal section
Test results must be sent directly from the testing agency to the Center you applied. Proof of English language competency can also be in the form of successful completion of a degree at an approved U.S. institution of higher education.
If you previously attended a U.S institution of higher education and had an F-1 visa, please go to Transferring to NSU.
