Windows 2000/ME FTP

Windows 2000 and Windows ME are both equipped with an FTP program. Follow the instructions below to set this up.

  1. Double-click on My Network Places on the desktop.

  2. Double-click on Add Network Place. Enter the ftp address you are trying to connect to.

    Note: the FTP address would be ftp://machine.nova.edu - for example, SCIS students would use ftp://scis.nova.edu; FSEHS students would use ftp://fgse.nova.edu.



  3. Click on Next. Take the check out of Log on anonymously and enter your NSU email name next to User name:.



  4. Click on Next. Enter a name for the connection (for example: NSU, Webpage, etc.)



  5. Click on Finish. The program will automatically try to connect. You will see the following window.



  6. Enter your password and click on Login.



    From here, you will be able to drag and drop your files from your computer to your NSU account.

If you are creating a web page for the first time, be sure to create a folder called public_html for all your web pages and pictures. To do so, right-click on the empty area in the right frame, go to New and select Folder . Be sure to name the folder public_html so they may be viewed on the web.
