You can also log directly in at Outlook Live; the tools will be the same.  Most of the information included in this section is taken from the Microsoft help materials for the Outlook Web App, and several links on this page will take you to more detailed information there.

If you are unable to load your email, please verify that you have javascript enabled on your computer or other mobile device. Managing Your Live@edu Email
Check New Messages

To check new messages you must be in the Mail Navigation Pane of your Live@edu interface. Mail, Contact, Calendar, and Task Pane navigation links are located in the lower left of your Live@edu account interface. If you are not already in the email view, simply click Mail and your email boxes and folders will load. If your email options are not set to automatically retrieve mail, you can click the Check Messages Icon and new messages will be loaded. View Image

By default, new messages arrive automatically into your inbox and you will hear a new mail notification chime if you receive new mail while you are logged into your Live@edu account. You can change how new mail is received, notified, and sorted by setting options and inbox rules according to your individual needs. For more about these advanced features see the Managing Options document linked within the navigation of this page.

To add recipients to a message:

  • On the To and Cc lines, type the names or e-mail addresses of the message recipients. You can type all or part of the recipient's name or e-mail address. Separate multiple names with semicolons (;).
  • You can also address the message by clicking To or Cc. This opens the Address Book. The Address Book lets you search for a person in the shared address book (if one is available) or in your Contacts folder. After you locate a person in the Address Book, add their name to your e-mail message by selecting the name and then clicking To, Cc, or Bcc under Message recipients.
  • You might want to include recipients without having them visible to everyone you send the message to. You can do this using Bcc. Bcc recipients get a copy of the message, but their names don't appear in the list of recipients. Bcc recipients can't see the names of other Bcc recipients.
  • To add Bcc recipients, click Options on the message toolbar, and then, under Current Message Settings, select Show Bcc. You can also click To or Cc to open the Address Book and use the Bcc line that appears there.

To remove recipients from a message:

  • To delete a name from the address boxes, right-click the name, and then click Remove. You can also select the name and press DELETE, or put the cursor at the end of a name, and then press the BACKSPACE (PC) or DELTE (Mac) key.

Notes

Creating Notes is a feature only available to those who use Outlook as a personal web client in conjunction with their Live@edu account and, as such, will not be a tool utilized by most students. The Notes folder in the Live@edu Outlook Web App provides read-only access to notes created with the Microsoft Outlook client. You cannot create or modify a note using the LIve@edu Outlook Web App, but you can forward it as an e-mail message.
