Windows 98 PPP Instructions

To Configure Dial-up Networking

  1. Click on the Start button and go to Dial-Up Networking. It is under the Start menu, then the Programs menu, then the Accessories menu, and then Communications.

    NOTE: If Dial-Up networking is not an option you must install it from your Windows 98 disks. See our Windows 98 documentation for installation instructions.



  2. Double click on the icon.



  3. Specify a name for your NSU configuration and click on Next.




  4. Enter 452-3300 and click on Next.



  5. Click on Finish.



  6. Right click on NSU and select Properties.



  7. Click Server Types.



  8. Remove the check mark from NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible and click OK.

  9. Double-click on the NSU icon in the Dial-up Networking window.

  10. Click on Dial Properties.



  11. Click on Area Code Rules. Put a check next to Always dial the area code (10-digit dialing) as shown below.



  12. Click on OK.

  13. Click on Apply. Click on OK.

To connect to NSU

  1. Click on the Start button and go to Dial-Up Networking. It is under the Start menu, then the Programs menu, and then the Accessories menu.



  2. Double click on the name of the PPP Configuration you just set up.



  3. Enter your User name and Password and click on Connect.
To Disconnect from NSU
  1. Click on the minimized PPP connection window and then click on the Disconnect.
