Mac OS X Panther Dialup Setup Instructions
1. Click on the Apple menu and click System Preferences.

2. Click on the Network icon at the top of the System Preferences window.

3. Next to "Show:" select Internal Modem from the dropdown menu.

- Next to Service Provider, type NSU.
- Next to Account Name: type your NSU email name.
- Next to Password: type your NSU email password.
- Next to Telephone Number: type 954 4523300.
- Leave the Alternate Number blank.
- Put a check next to "Save password" if you do not want to type in your password everytime you start a dialup connection
4. When you have filled in that information, click on PPP Options to look at advanced options.

5. The PPP Options window which folds down contains many advanced options. The default settings (shown above) should be fine. Click on the Help menu on the menubar at the top of the screen to learn more about them. Press OK when you are done with the PPP Options.
6. Click on the TCP/IP tab.

- Next to "Configure IPv4", select Using PPP.
- IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Router will be blank until your computer connects to NSU and obtains that information using PPP
- Search Domains should be blank
7. Click Proxies.

8. Ensure that you do not have any proxies set up in this window.
9. Click on Modem.

- Modem: should be set to the modem you have. This is usually an Internal 56K Modem.
- Enable error correction and compression in modem should be checked. **Please note: if you have problems with your connection timing out, you can try unchecking this option.
- Wait for dial tone before dialing should be checked
- Next to Dialing, select Tone.
- Sound should be set to On.
- Show modem status in menu bar should be checked so you will see an icon on your menu bar which will allow you to connect/disconnect your connection.
10. Click Apply Now.
If you would like to connect right away, click on PPP, then click Dial Now...
