WebMail Search Icon on Toolbar

The Search feature allows you to search your mailboxes for specific messages. When you click on the Search button on your toolbar, you will see the following window:

WebMail Advanced Search Screen

  1. Under "Message matches" you will choose Match Any Query or Match All Queries. Match Any Query should be used if you want more results. Match All Queries should be used if you are trying to narrow down the search results.
  2. Under "Message fields", you will select which field(s) to search in. Once you select a field, the page will refresh and you will be able to type in the criteria you want to search by AND you will see another dropdown menu so you can select another field to search as well. In the following example, we are searching for messages from help@nova.edu with "webct" mentioned in the body of the message:

  3. Under "Message flags" you can select options to tailor your search. For example, if you know that you responded to the message you are trying to search for, you should select Answered messages so the search will only retrieve messages that you have answered. If you're not sure, you can keep Both selected.
