Spam Filter
Your NSU email goes through a spam filter that can be accessed and modified to your preferences. Through the Splog utility, you can update your spam settings and also view a log of messages that have been deleted.
Go to http://splog.nova.edu and click the Login tab at the top.

You will be brought to the login page. Please enter your NSU email name and corresponding password and click login.

Once you're logged in, you will see that you have extra tabs at the top: User Log and User Preferences (shown below):

User Preferences
1. Once logged in, click User Preferences to modify your spam filter settings. The first section in the User Preferences section will be General Settings, as shown below:

- Required Score: if you lower this value, the filter will catch more spam but the possibility of valid emails getting marked as spam is greater. The default setting is 5.
- Max Score: if an email is flagged with a max score or higher, it is deleted without even reaching your inbox. If you lower this, valid emails may be deleted before they reach your inbox. The default score is 8.
- Default/Short: The messages that are scored between your Required and your Max Score (in the example above, the Required is 5 and the Max is 8; if a message is scored as 6) will reach your inbox with a modified subject. If you choose Default, the subject message will include the spam score. If you choose short, the subject will just denote "*SPAM*".
2. Click Update Settings to save your changes.
3. The second section of your User Preferences is your Whitelist/Blacklist. This is where you can allow or block certain email addresses or certain domains.

- To ensure that you receive all messages from NSU email accounts, you can enter "*@nova.edu" or "*@nsu.nova.edu", select Allow, then click Add New Address. This will work for any domain, such as Hotmail or Yahoo.
- To block any particular address, enter it next to Address, select Deny, then click Add New Address.
- To remove an address that you have previously entered, click the Delete link to the right of the address.
- To edit an address that you have previously entered, click the Edit link to the right of the address, make your change (Allow or Deny), then click Add New Address.
User Log
To view a log of the messages that were deleted before they reached your inbox, click the User Log at the top of the screen. You will see a table like the following:

Please note: This is only a record of the messages; you will not be able to read these messages. If a valid message has been removed through the Spam filter, you will not be able to retrieve it. Contact the sender and request that they resend it. You may also want to add this person to your "Whitelist" to ensure these messages are received in the future.
Click Logout when you are finished updating your filter.
