Life Long Learning Institute (LLI)
Four days a week, two times a day, a dedicated group of students gather at Nova Southeastern University to study. Whether it is literature, politics, history, culture, psychology or philosophy, they challenge each other and their teachers. What makes this group unique is that they are not undergraduate or even graduate students. Instead, they are mature adults, members of the Lifelong Learning Institute. The LLI participates with implementing the goal of GEC to provide health and wellness lectures throughout Broward County; and, to give the NSU HPD students opportunities to meet with older adults for their mutual learning experiences.
Founded over 30 years ago, the LLI is a department of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at NSU. Classes are offered to the 100 members (mostly age 60 plus) taught by NSU faculty, adjunct professors, lecturers, and other experts in many fields. It's the mission of the LLI to create opportunities for lifestyle enrichment, health, and wellness for older adults. And while learning challenges the mind, the LLI also offers Enhance Fitness classes two times a week after regular classes, to strengthen members' bodies as well.
