Judy Layne:

Dear Fellow Anglers,

Nova Southeastern University and its Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography is proud to present the 2017 NSU Scholarship Fishing Tournament.

The tournament mission is to be recognized as the premier, not-for-profit fishing tournament in the Southeast for the benefit of education and research.

Accordingly, this annual tournament is a conservation event with the mandate of the release of billfish and responsible take of fun fish. Net proceeds from tournament fees and donations create the endowed NSU Fishing Tournament Scholarship Fund. The endowment provides scholarship aid to attract, retain, encourage, and support high academically achieving and productive marine graduate students at NSU Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography who are engaged in outstanding research activities.

The fishing tournament is first class and for all ages and skill levels.

The event begins with a Captain’s Meeting and Reception on Thursday evening November 16, 2017. The Offshore tournament will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 followed by an Awards Banquet. There will be a BackCountry fishing event on Saturday, November 18, 2017 for those interested.

The Fishing Tournament venue will be at Ocean Reef in Key Largo, Florida. There is plenty of space to bring your own boat. Fishing Charter boats are also available at reasonable fee.

Thank you again for your consideration. We look forward to a great event with you on board.

Tight lines.  We encourage your participation and look forward to seeing you soon,

Dr. Dick Dodge, on behalf of the Scholarship Fishing Tournament Committee

Dean, Nova Southeastern University Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography
