What types of paper can I recycle?

Envelopes, manila and file folders, fax paper, computer paper, ledger paper, notebook and tablet backs are all fine and can be collected together. This is considered mixed paper. Carbon paper is not recyclable.

What about newspapers, magazines and books?

Newspapers, magazines, coated bookstock (glossy heavy stock brochures) hard or soft covered books can be recycled as long as they are packed separately. For example: Books in one bin, newspaper in another.

How should I place the materials for pickup?

They can be put into the small office blue bins. Call Physical Plant for any additional small blue bins you may need for your office. For centralized location (hallways, loading docks) call Physical Plant for the large 96 gallon Blue containers.

Where do I take it?

If you are a residence in a dorm, place the paper in the blue recycling bins. If you are in an academic building take the paper to the appropriate bins or designated office areas. Custodial personnel will collect these materials daily along with the trash.

What types of paper should I not recycle?

Carbon Paper, chipboard (cereal box material), food items, coffee filters, carbon paper, and napkins should be deposited in the trash.
