Application Calendar for Academic Year 2008-2009

Important Deadlines:

  • May 1, 2008 - The Institute of International Education (IIE) opens this year's Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant competition for study abroad. Interested students are encouraged to review program information details and begin the process as soon as possible. www.fulbrightonline.org

  • May 1, 2008 – September 4, 2008 - Students are to initiate the collection of all support documents, e.g., foreign language report, references and transcripts, in sealed and signed envelopes, etc.

  • September 5, 2008All applications must be COMPLETED in the Fulbright application database and submitted to the University electronically by 5pm (Eastern Time). No new registrations or applications will be accepted after this date.

  • September 8 – 12, 2008 - Online applications will be printed and distributed to Campus Screening Committee in preparation for your interview.

  • September 15 - 19, 2008 Interview period. You will be contacted and scheduled for a campus interview with one or more of the Campus Screening Committee. You must be interviewed by the Nova Southeastern Campus Screening Committee during this time. Your application will be rated on the following criteria: academic qualifications, validity and feasibility of your proposed project, foreign language proficiency, evidence of adaptability and motivation, and foreign experience. Expect to revise your application in accordance with the suggestions of the Committee. Also, please bring to your interview your own copy of your application. After your interview date, your application will be made editable again in the Fulbright system.

  • September 24, 2008 - Feedback for revisions due to Dr. Frank De Piano by 5pm and will be sent via email to you by the end of the work day.

  • October 3, 2008 - Your final revised online application must be completed in the Fulbright system and submitted to us. A hard-copy of application and supporting documents (ORIGINALS ONLY) must be in our office by 5:00pm (Eastern Time). Documentation will be forwarded to the committee for final evaluation.

  • October 10, 2008 - The committee will meet and make final recommendations to Dr. Frank De Piano.

  • October 13-17, 2008 –Recommended students' applications/materials will be sent to Fulbright. Only recommended and completed applications with supporting documents will be sent to the IIE.

  • October 20, 2008 –The IIE's deadline for receipt of application.
